Thursday November 1st 2018

Jeff Cox will present an evening of

powerful stories and photographs

illustrating the service and sacrifice

made by the men and women of

Porlock and the Vale during the First

World War.

More than 350 local men fought in all the theatres  of the war; in the trenches of France and Flanders, in the disastrous Gallipoli campaign, in the Middle East, and in India; at home, scores of women performed vital tasks, some training to nurse the long-term wounded, others sending aid packages or helping to bring in the harvests.

The Museum Players will be reading stories, of the men and women of Porlock who served, and poems of the Great War.
